FAQ
What level of anti-theft protection does the BetaLock™ offer?
The BetaLock™ is engineered to provide a theft-deterrent level of security. Deterrent level of security is appropriate for short lapses in supervision and to prevent grab-and-go theft, pickpocketing, and tampering.
When choosing a lock, it is important to know what level of security you need for various applications. The BetaLock™ is designed for passive protection and deters against common grab-and-go theft that occurs frequently when traveling. Deterrent level of security is appropriate when carrying baggage or wearing a backpack in urban areas, or where your belongings are out of sight during quick stops.
Can separate BetaLock™ carabiners be opened with one key?
The BetaLock™ is a universal lock. The keys will work across any BetaLock™, allowing users to have multiple locks that can be opened with one key. The most effective theft deterrent locks are ones that are readily available and used with frequency.
What locking mechanism is used in the BetaLock™?
The BetaLock™ has a deadbolt style closure. When locked, the key actuates a bolt that interlocks with the gate. Deadbolt closures like the one in the BetaLock™ can only be moved with a key, and cannot be jimmied or opened with a knife or credit card.
Does the BetaLock™ provide any insurance for stolen items?
The BetaLock™ does not provide any insurance for stolen or lost items, injury, or death, regardless of whether the lock or carabiner fails due to error in use, manufacturing, tampering, damage, or any other methodology. The BetaLock™ does have a warranty that applies to the BetaLock™ itself only.
Does the BetaLock™ have a weight rating?
The BetaLock™ does not have a weight rating because it is not intended, designed, or safe to use as a weight bearing device. The BetaLock™ is not intended for climbing.
Does the BetaLock™ work as a clip when not locked?
Yes, the BetaLock™ functions like a spring gate clip when not locked. Fast and efficient, the BetaLock™ lets you attach or identify things when unlocked. When needed, lock with the key for added security.
Does the BetaLock™ come with a cable for locking multiple things or hard to reach places?
The BetaLock™ Accessory Cable is not included with the BetaLock™. We recommend pairing the BetaLock™ with a BetaLock™ Accessory Cable if you would like to lock multiple zippers on your bag, multiple items together, or secure hard to reach places and small access points.

A high quality product for everyday use. Excellent!!
Great item and durable
I bought the betalock previously and i encountered some limitations when i used for the last overseas trip to lock my luggages using other type of cable. Finally, i ordered the betalock cables online and i found that it works well with my Betalock to secure my luggages in my next overseas trips. Thank you, Nitecore for this innovative products.
My 2nd purchase but in a different colour. Acts well as a lock and to hang items. Very durable!
It perfectly fit on my goruck g2 40l. thanks
Goes well with the Metador BetaLock! Very good length to accomadate items to be lock. The stainless steel braided core is very versatile
I am amazed with the Beta lock and it comes very useful with my office and travel backpack. It helps me to secure my backpack and other carry-on bags so that I will not lose them. I also see that it can be used to secure bicycles, camera, etc. Thank you very much for this innovative and useful products.
Item received the next day after payment!Very swift! The Metador is very sleek, finish quality is top notch. Very good buy indeed!Love the keys :)
Super
The perfect, versatile companion to the BetaLock. I ordered the BetaLock Accessory Cable to be used with the BetaLock that I purchased a while ago. I'm mostly using this combo to secure all of our luggage together at our travel destinations—and it works great! It seems pretty versatile though so I could also see us using it for locking up snowboards and other adventure gear. BONUS: The silicone storage loop is actually a pretty clever design, and helps keep the cord organized when it's not being used. Overall, very stoked on this simple little device. 10/10
Great quality lock, hefty I might say. Can't wait to use it.
Small, simple, and genuinely useful. I use these on planes to hang my waterbottle, and in bathrooms so my bag isn't touching the floor.
Great Item It's sturdy and locks items well
Handy & Versatile Carabiner. This is my 2nd purchase. I have been using them for travel and especially international travel as a safety zipper lock with a key chain ring for my cross-body sling bag. They're very convenient to lock and to unlock. Last trip, I have used it as a hanger for my backpack on the back of the chair in front of me in a plane. It came in handy to reach for stuffs inside the backpack.
Awesome Design. Love how multifunctional it is and how it doesn't look like a normal padlock
Repeat Purchase. Versatile and great for travel. Have used it as a safety lock on a zipper of a cross body sling bag. Found another use as a hanger on the back of the seat in a plane.
Great quality nifty product!
Added Layer of Confidence. I got this to secure my backpack in cafes, parks, and other places where I’d set down my bag next to me or on a seat at my table while eating or whatever. The Betalock gives me more confidence that my bag is safe from grab & go opportunists. Great product, Matador!
Practical and Cool. Very cool and practical, I always have some kind of carabiner on my bag for hanging things.
Me gusta, me encanta y me fascina 😃👍🏻
Well made product. Exactly what I expect from Matador.
A great little tool for securing a bag (for me this means stopping a bag from rolling around a sail boat’s cabin as we tack).
BetaLock Metal. Gets the job done.
Great accessory. Works very well with the beta lock
Impressed. This is a legit high end product!
Cool and useful. It's really handy since you can use it as a regular Carabiner if it's unlocked, unlike most other locks where you have to use a key to open them each time. People also don't expect it to lock which is good for keeping items secure. It also looks like it would be harder to cut through than branded wire so that might help deter thieves. If I'm going somewhere crowded, I have a backpack that has locking zippers and metal running through the handle; I was able to lock it to a chair using the beta lock. Really happy I bought it.
Does what it needs to do while remaining stylish. I haven't gone to the full lengths of using this product yet, but I am certain that through the years I will find a way to utilize this in ways that will be most useful. The item feels very durable and has this build quality of longevity. Will update my review if anything comes up that's worth noting.
Quality, but I know I’ll lose the keys
This is a great lockable carabiner. And the color is so pretty.
Fantastic. Hooked instantly. Fantastic. I didn't know there was a locking caribiner. I was hooked (see what I did there). Perfect for cycling and tethering up my helmet. Plus, in screaming orange to match out with iPhone17 Pro...killer!
Bought 1 previously and this is my second. Would get another if it was needed
Great Quality. Light but good quality

Great lock. But…universal key. Great lock. Very useful. But they all use the same key so anyone with one can open one.
Good Business
Motorcycle helmet lock. Needed a lock for my motorcycle helmet and this fit the bill.
Well designed, works great
